[Designer]

[Theme]
The Skin
[Concept]
The pursuit of “Beauty” is not the same thing as the attempt to recapture youth. Indeed, is there anything quite so mystical and natural as aging? With aging as my focus I was inspired by the unique movement of skin and drawn to denim that has skin-like attributes : Over time denim changes color and develops wrinkles as skin does. With a pattern fitted for a moving body and original textiles I express the strength of life as well as the ephemeral qualities.

Akane HOSHINO / freelance
[Theme]
Weathering
[Concept]
Weathering is a theme in this art. I produced it based on this year Kobe fashion contest’s theme: elegance which I portray.
There is sorrow in places that people have gone to and no one pays attentions to.
It is plaintive; however, scenery that adapts the ruins makes us feel it is beautiful, since there is “no artificiality”.
It is not mere beauty, but the march of time, human actives, and respect to those things and a feeling such as an attachment to them are born. There is no word to speak about the nature that things are produced out of use. However, it is simply “beautiful”. And it has attractions beyond the “beauty”.

Carpe Diem
